When Playing the G Chord Place Your Fingers Like This
There are several ways to play the G chord here is a couple of ways to play it.
- Place Your first finger at the second fret of the A string. Which is the 5th string.
- Put your second finger at the third fret on the E string. The 6th string.
- Your third finger is at the third fret. On the B string. (2nd string)
- Then place your pinkie on the third fret of the high E string. The 1st string.
- When strumming the G chord you can play all the strings.

- Place your second finger on the 5th string, at the second fret.
- Third finger on the 6th string, at the third fret.
- Pinkie on the high E string, the 1st string, at the third fret.
- Strum all the strings.

Finger Position of the C chord
- Place your first finger on the B string, at the first fret. (2nd string).

This is such a cool song and really not that hard to play. You could play an A E and D, but in the blues you use dominant 7 chords. This gives it that bluesy sound.

A7 Finger Position
- Your second finger is on the 4th string at the 2nd fret. (D string)
- Third finger is on the 2nd string at the 2nd fret. (B string)
- Strum from the 5th string down. The A string.
- Don’t play the 6th string.
Finger Position of the E7 Chord
- Place your first finger on the 3rd string at the first fret. (G string)
- Then your 2nd finger is at the 2nd fret of the 5th string. (A string)
- Play all the stings when strumming.

How to Place Your Fingers for the D7 Chord
- Place your first finger at the first fret on the B string. (2nd string)
- Next place your second finger at the second fret of the G string. (3rd string)

How to Play Eric Clapton Version of Key to the Highway
Now that you know what chords are in the song. There are a couple of things you need to be able to play this song. That is the strumming pattern and chord progression. Then that great turn around. First take a look at the strumming pattern it goes like this: D D U D U D U. Which is Down Down Up Down Up Down Up.
The chord Progression is: A7 E7 D7 D7 A7 E7 A7 Then the turn around. Another verse which is the same progression. The Ending is E7 and A7.
Lets Take a Look at the Turnaround
Start on the 5th fret with your third finger on the fourth string. Which is the D string. Your pinkie is on the high E string. The first string Also at the 5th fret. Then Hybrid Pick the strings. Meaning use your pick and your finger to pick the two strings at the same time. Pick them twice. Next…
Use your pick to pick the 4th string. And your second finger to pick the 1st string. Pick both strings. Then keep your pinkie stationary at the 5th fret. And move up a fret to the 4th fret using your second finger to fret the 4th string. Then pick the strings two times.
And then move up another fret which now you are on the 3rd fret Using your first finger. Pick it two times. Your pinkie is stationary. Move your first finger up to the second fret and pick both strings one time.

The Blues Boogie Woogie
After the intro your going to play a blues boogie woogie. And this song is in the key of E. The chords are E5 A5 B5. Here is how to play it. Start with your first finger on the second fret of the A string. Which is the 5th string. Then Pick the E and A string at the same time. Strings 6 and 5, You pick them two times. And then with your third finger positioned at at the4th fret of the A string. pick the two strings again, two times.
To get that bluesy sound you want to palm mute the strings. If you want to know more about that check out this guitar lesson on palm muting.
Then next your going to play the A5. We are going to play the same frets, but move everything down a string. So now your going to be fretting the D string at the second fret. And playing the A string and the D string at the same time. And using your 3rd finger toggling back and fourth between fret 2 and 4. Picking two times each. an
So you are going to play the E5 and toggle back and fourth 16 times. Picking it two times each. Then switch to the A5 and play it 8 times toggling back and fourth. And then back up to the E5 toggling back and forth between your first finger and third finger 8 times. Then you play a B7 an A7 and E7.

Alberta Eric Clapton Acoustic Guitar Song
Alberta is a really cool song by Eric Clapton. There are a lot of bits and pieces that make up this song. But once you get it all together you can play it over and over again. It’s so much fun to play. The chords in the song are C F and G. The song starts out with a walk up.
The walk up is on the E string. First your going to pick the open E string. Just pick the string 2 times and then fret the first fret on the 6th string. After you have the string fretted, pick the 6th string 2 times. Next place your 2nd finger at the 2nd fret, still on the 6th string. And pick the E string two times.
Then you go to the 3rd fret of the E string. using your third finger fret the third fret. And then immediately after that play the G chord. Then your going to fret the third fret of the A string. The 5th string and pick the A string.
Then cover the A string at the second fret. Once you have fretted the second fret play the A string. Then you are going to play the A string open. Meaning without fretting any frets. Then fret the G note at the third fret of the 6th string. And pick the E string.

Playing the Parts of Eric Clapton Alberta Guitar Lesson
Then slide into the E at the 7th fret on the A string. When you slide use your third finger. And then once you get to the 7th fret you are going to move down to the D string at the 5th fret. Use your first finger to fret the 5th fret of the 4th string. Which is the D string. And then pick the D string. Then cover the 7th fret on the D string and play the D string.
Next move down a string, to the G string. Fret the 5th fret of the 3rd string. And play the G string. After that fret the 7th fret of the G string and pick the G string. When you get to the 7th fret on the G string you are picking it 4 times. back and fourth. Then Fret the 5th fret of the G string and pick it again.
So every note on this part is between the 5th and 7thn fret. Practice this part as it is at a fast tempo.
Then you back to the C note on the 5th string at the third fret. fretting the third fret and picking the A string two times. Then move to the second fret of the 5th string fret the string and pick it two times. And play the open A string. The 5th string. Then fret the third fret of the 6th string pick it and then play the G chord.

Then pick the G note again. Which you are governing the third fret of the 6th string already. So just pick the E string. Then play an open A string. Fret the 2nd fret of the A string and pick the 5th string. Next play that C note again. Which is at the third fret on the A string. Then strum the C chord.
The next part is played by walking up to the F chord. What you want to do is fret and then play the A string. Your going to fret the frets 3 2 and 1. All on the A string. Which are note C B Bb. Playing the F in the song with the rhythm of the song. Your going position your hands to play the F bar chord. Then pick the 6th string and strum down on the chord. Then pick the 5th string and strum down. You do this two times and then go to play the C chord.
When playing the C chord. You are going to pick the A string and the D string at the same time. Then pick the D string while your second finger is still at the second fret. Next fret the second fret on the A string and pick the A string. Then fret the third fret of the A string and pick the A string. And lastly fret the third fret of the E string and pick the E string.
And come back down to the C chord again. Which is fretting the third fret of the E string and picking the E string. Then open A string pick it. And then fret the second fret of the A string and play the A string. Then fret the third fret of the A string and play the A string again.

Walking back up to the G
After that you are going to walk back up to the third fret of the E string. But this time you are going to pick the notes two times. Like we did in the beginning. First Picking the A string. Once the 3rd fret has been covered. And then the 2nd fret of the A string. Also you are picking the string two times for each note.
Then pick the open A string and end the riff by picking the third fret of the E string. And then strum the G chord. Next using the same notes in reverse picking them two times come back down to the C chord. It looks like this: 3rd fret of the E string two times, open A string, second fret on the A string two times and end on the third fret of the A string.
After all that you start the walk down from E again. Which is at the start of the song.
