How to Play the D/F#

Next Chord is the D/f#. Which just means that the bass note is the F#. You would play the D chord with an F# in the bass. But for a lot of players this could be quite difficult. So what you can do is play the D chord instead. But that being said I will tell you how to play the D/F#.

  • First finger is on the 3rd string at the second fret. (G string)
  • Then your 2nd finger is at the second fret on the 1st string. (E string)
  • Next your 3rd finger is on the 2nd string at the third fret. (B string)
  • Finally the F#, Notice your almost out of fingers! This leaves your thumb to play this note.
  • Place your thumb over the top of the guitar and play the 6th string at the 2nd fret. (E string)
  • You can strum all strings.

Like I said if you find that chord difficult just play the D chord. Which is the next chord in the line up.

  • First finger is on the 3rd string at the second fret. (G string)
  • Then your 2nd finger is at the second fret on the 1st string. (E string)
  • Next your 3rd finger is on the 2nd string at the third fret. (B string)
  • When Playing the D chord strum from the 4th string down. Don’t play strings 5 & 6.

How to Play the C Chord Which is in the Song Lover

  • First finger is at the first fret on the B string. The second string.
  • Second finger is at the second fret on the D string. Which is the fourth string.
  • Then your third finger is placed at the third fret on the fifth string. (A String)
  • You Don’t want to play the 6th string when strumming the C chord.

Tip of the Day– To avoid accidentally playing the 6th string. Gently touch the 6th string with your third finger. That is also on the 5th string. When playing the C chord. That way if you do hit the 6th string it will be muted out with your finger. (This takes some practice to position your finger).

Lover By Taylor Swift Strumming Pattern

This too is an easy strumming pattern. You could do all down strums. This is how it is done when you have a complete band and another guitar playing with Taylor Swift. But most people are sitting at home playing this song.

So to give your guitar more of a beat and a break from the dryness of all down strums. I Like to add some up strums. This is how: D D U D D U D D U D D. DOWN DOWN UP DOWN DOWN UP DOWN DOWN UP DOWN DOWN.

Lover Taylor Swift Lyrics

We could leave the Christmas lights up until January
This is our place, we make the rules
And there's a dazzling haze, a mysterious way about you, dear
Have I known you twenty seconds or twenty years?
Can I go where you go?
Can we always be this close forever and ever?
And ah, take me out, and take me home
You're my, my, my, my lover
We could let our friends crash in the living room
This is our place, we make the call
And I'm highly suspicious that everyone who sees you wants you
I've loved you three summers now, honey, but I want 'em all
Can I go where you go?
Can we always be this close forever and ever?
And ah, take me out, and take me home (forever and ever)
You're my, my, my, my lover
Ladies and gentlemen, will you please stand?
With every guitar string scar on my hand
I take this magnetic force of a man to be my lover
My heart's been borrowed and yours has been blue
All's well that ends well to end up with you
Swear to be over dramatic and true to my lover
And you'll save all your dirtiest jokes for me
And at every table, I'll save you a seat, lover
Can I go where you go?
Can we always be this close forever and ever?
And ah, take me out, and take me home (forever and ever)
 You're my, my, my, my
Oh, you're my, my, my, my
Darling, you're my, my, my, my lover
