The song Keep Your Hands to Yourself is played in the key of A. You don’t really need to concern yourself with that though. The chords that are played in the song are the A, E and the D Chord.

The way that we are going to play the song is called a boogie woogie. Which has been around since the 1920’s. But this is a different story all together.

So to play the A5 this is what you want to do.

  • You place Your first finger on the second fret of the 4th string.
  • The 5th string is open.
  • Play or pick the 4th and 5th strings at the same time.
  • Then Place your 3rd finger on the 4th fret of the 4th string and pick the A string and the D string.
  • Toggle back and fourth between placing your finger on the 4th fret of the 4th string and removing that finger from the string.

Pick the strings twice, and then place your finger down on the 4th string. Pick the strings again.

If you have heard the song Keep Your Hands to Yourself you will notice at the beginning it starts off soft. The Boogie Woogie is heard and you are playing the A chord. Then it works it way up louder and louder to start the verse.

This song is based off of a 12 bar Blues. The intro is 4 bars of lightly toggling back and forth on that A chord.

Place the fat part of the side of your hand on the strings. Find the spot that sound good on the strings. And go with it. Place your hand between the bridge and the pickup.

Lyrics to the Easiest Best Beginner Electric Guitar Song

Keep Your Hands to Yourself Lyrics

I got a little change in my pocket going jing-a-ling-a-ling
Wants to call you on the telephone baby, Give you a ring.
But each time we talk, I get the same old thing.
Always no huging no kissing until I get a wedding ring.

My honey my baby, don’t put my love upon no shelf.
She said don’t hand me no lines, and keep your hands to yourself.

Baby baby baby why you wan’ treat me this way?
You know I’m still your lover boy I still feel the same way.
That’s when she told me a story, about free milk and a cow
And said no hugging no kissing until I get a wedding vow.

My honey my baby, don’t put my love upon no shelf.
She said don’t hand me no lines and keep your hands to yourself.

Hold it here
See I wanted her real bad, and I was about to give in.
But that’s when she started talking about true love,
Started talking about sin.
And I said, honey I’ll live with you for the rest of my life,
She said no hugging no kissing until you make me your wife.

My honey my baby, don’t put my love upon no shelf
She said don’t hand me no lines and keep your hands to yourself Source
