Here Comes the Sun Beatles Melody

Let me start by saying there is a capo used on the 7th fret. If you don’t have a capo no worries, take a look at the Best capo’s here.

The melody is picked out through the entire song. There is a combination of strumming and picking of the notes. It starts at the very beginning of the song. When you play the D chord. To pick the melody you will need to raise your middle finger up and then back down.

So let’s start at the beginning with the D chord. After positioning your fingers for the D chord. If you need help with the D chord take a look at the chord diagram. Which was covered earlier. Then you are going to strum from the D string down. Which is the 4th string.

Again not assuming any thing thing! The guitar strings are 6, 5, 4, 3, 2, 1. That is looking down at the guitar strings. the first one you see is the 6th string. Which is also the thickest string.

After that you pick the high E string up and down. Which is the first string. When you pick up you have your middle finger, or second finger on the string. Then lift it up when you pick it down.

It doesn’t have to be picked up then down. It can be down and then up which ever is easiest for you. Or you can do all down picks.

Then when you put your finger back on the string. Pick the note again. And then pick the second string.

Picking Out the Melody to Here Comes the Sun Chords.

Then just strum the D chord again and raise up your middle finger and set it back down on the first string. The song is in 4/4 timing so think about counting in fours. And of course think of how the melody sounds when you practice this.

Then the next chord is the G chord, and then A7. When you get to the A7. You play the A7 Then you place your pinkie on the second string third fret. So you are strumming the A7. If you count it is one two three, Place your finger on the B and on four lift your finger up of the B string.

It does that same strumming and picking again. But this time when you get to the A7 you just stop on the A7 (No Pinkie).

Then back to the D, and another verse. Play the D chord the same way, picking the melody as you go. Then when you get to the G. You strum the G pick the 3rd fret of the first string. The High E, pick open. And pick the 2nd fret of the high E string. Then pick the 3rd fret of the B string. The second fret.

Once you get to the 4th fret, place your first finger on the B string, at the 3rd fret. The B string is the second string. Pick the B string, and then the high E string right after.

After that it goes to the E7 chord. Strum it. Then pick High E string open. Then pick the B string at the 3rd fret.

This might take some time to get. What I would do is break it down into chunks. Once you get it then move on to the next part.

After that it goes to the Da Da Da Da Dada Da DaDa DaDa Da. Which is starting on the G string, the third string. You are going to slide from the 2nd fret to the 4th fret. You want to use your 2nd finger to slide to the 4th fret.

Then place your first finger on the G string at the second fret. Your 2nd finger moves to the B string at the 3rd fret. You Pick the G B and the High E string.

I will show the rest of this little lick and then I would recommend practicing separately until you get it down pat. It’s not hard, but it’s a little tricky keeping in time.

So next you want to remove your finger from the G string and pick the G B and the high E. Your second finger is still at the 2nd fret of the B string. And then place your first finger back on the G string at the 2nd string. Play the G B and E string.

Then pick the 3rd fret, 2nd fret, of the B string, and then the open B string. And end on the 2nd fret of the G. Make sure you end with your third finger on the G string. because you will go right back into the D chord.

It seems like a lot to put together, but the good news is it’s all easy. Just take your time and learn bit buy bit. Like sections of the song. Once you get a section move to the next. Before you know it you will be playing the whole song.
