In this song like a lot of country songs there is an alternating bass line. Also in this song there is a walking baseline. Which makes this song so much fun to play.

If you don’t know what these are stick around to learn them. I’m sure you will agree. They make this song really fun to play on the guitar.

First we have the B7 chord. After you position your fingers to make the chord. The strings that are picked then strummed are these:

  • Pick the 5th string then strum down two times.
  • Move your second finger up to the 6th string, at the 3rd fret.
  • Pick the 6th string and strum two times.
  • Only strum down to the second string.

If you are not used to playing this style of alternating base line. It may be a little challenging. But take one chord at a time until you are fluent with that chord and then move to the next one.

Speaking of the next one lets take a look at the E chord. Fingers in position to make the E chord. To alternate the bass line of the E chord it looks like this:

  • Pick the E string, 6th string and strum down 2 times.
  • Then Pick the A string, 5th string, and strum down 2 times.
  • Alternate back and forth.

The Next chord is the A Major chord. Again position your fingers to make the A chord. When playing the A chord. You are just going to pick the 5th string and then strum two times.

Pick the 5th string strum twice, Pick the 5th string strum twice. See that’s not so hard. Will cover the chord progression, and then the walking bass line connects everything together.
